From The desk of Chairman
The need for agriculture extension reforms has been explicity raised in the national agriculture policy. Under this policy one of the scheme is “Support to state extension programme for extension reforms.” During the last decade a number of extension tools have been tried for increasing farmers’ involvement in Government schemes of extension and research. The ultimate object of both research and extension system is to increase agricultural production.
Strategic research and extension Plan (SREP) is a document showing our future plans and procedure or techniques to achieve our goal of increasing agricultural production and farmers’ income. This plan is down-top instead of top-down in nature. SREP has been prepared with active participation of farmers, NGOs, Field officers & scientists.
It facilitates the integration and redesigning of the on going departmental programmes of agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Dairy, Horticulture & Fisheries etc. for the benefit of the farmers as per farming system approach.
I hope this document will go a long way in improving the productivity, economy and prosperity of farmers of the District.
